Sports in the South Presentations

Annual Guilbeau Lectures

Tuesday, April 29, 4:00-5:30 pm

Two presentations on sports in the South will be given by 2013 Guilbeau fellows Dr. Zeb Baker from Miami University of Ohio and Dr. Matthew Teutsch from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Baker will discuss the integration of football in the South. Teutsch’s talk, “‘At this Hour Our Hearts Are One—Beep-Beep’: Sports in the Fiction of Ernest J. Gaines,” explores Gaines’ use of athletes and sports in his fiction.

The presentations are free and open to the public.

The Jamie Guilbeau and Thelma Guilbeau UL Lafayette Collections Fellowships and the  lectures are sponsored by the UL Lafayette History Department.

The Writing Center satellite in Dupré Library is open this week.

Writing Center satellite hours:
Monday 4:00-9:00 pm
Tuesday 4:00-9:00 pm
Wednesday 6:00-9:00 pm
Thursday 6:00-9:00 pm

Writing Center tutors assist students in all disciplines at any stage of the writing process. Tutors use a table in the Reference area. Students are welcome to stop by for 30-minute sessions. A sign-up sheet is posted when the satellite is open.

The final date for this semester is Thursday, May 1.
